This new partnership agreement serves as an avenue to promote excellence in the health leadership field with the opportunity to incorporate the LEADS framework into its curriculum.
The Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) has awarded the LEADS certification to the University of Ottawa, Telfer School of Management – Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) program. The partnership agreement provides EMHA program participants with an opportunity to obtain their Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation while completing their studies.
“We are truly delighted to have signed this agreement with the Telfer School of Management,” said Brenda Lammi, Vice President, Leadership and Professional Development at the CCHL, “Our partnership acknowledges that there is a commitment to ongoing professional development for health leaders at the University of Ottawa and recognizes how important it is for health leaders to become certified, and to earn the CHE designation.”
“The partnership between Telfer’s EMHA program and the CCHL serves to enhance and strengthen the program’s emphasis on the skills of leadership and innovation in healthcare,” said Karen Nelson, Associate Director, Executive MHA Program. “Through the CCHL, students have the opportunity to connect with healthcare leaders across Canada and continue their leadership training throughout their career.”
This collaboration will also allow for both organizations to better address the constantly evolving needs of health leaders and align themselves with the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework. This framework is a foundation for Canadian health leadership development and defines the knowledge, skills and attitudes a leader must have to positively contribute to the Canadian health care system.
