The Canadian College of Health Leaders is proud to announce that Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences was named recipient of the 2019 Award of Excellence in Mental Health and Quality Improvement.
An interprofessional team within the hospital was assembled to engage patients and their families to help realize the strategic goals of the Ontario Shores’ Recovery Action Plan and to transform services and delivery to more closely align with recovery principles. The objectives were to improve patient recovery outcomes, improve patient and staff safety, and improve patient experience.
The Recovery Action Plan introduced major initiatives designed to challenge traditional clinical practices with a provider-patient hierarchy and support the provision of recovery-oriented services, where providers and patients work collaboratively.
The Award of Excellence in Mental Health and Quality Improvement honours a hospital, health authority, community based mental health and addictions program/service, or a leader in the field that demonstrates evidence-informed and sustained quality improvements (QI) in the area of mental health and addictions.
The award is sponsored by Janssen. As a member of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, Janssen Inc. is dedicated to addressing and solving the most important unmet medical needs of our time.
This award is part of our CCHL National Awards Program and will be presented at the Honouring Health Leadership event on June 9, 2019 in Toronto prior to the 2019 National Health Leadership Conference (NHLC).
