The Canadian College of Health Leaders is proud to announce that Mehdi Somji, CHE, Director Integrated Health Systems, Partnerships & Health Analytics at Humber River Hospital, has been named recipient of the 2020 Robert Zed Young Health Leader Award.
Mehdi Somji is an exceptional leader with a record of accomplishment for delivering many impactful initiatives that have improved and continue to improve the health system, including iPlan – a Central LHIN wide digitalization of discharge planning practices, Humber’s Elderly Assess and Restore Team (HEART), and a SMART Discharge program.
Mehdi reflects the values of compassion, professionalism and respect, and is known for his strong leadership and collaborative approach. He employs an open-door policy and is frequently connecting with leaders within and outside Humber River Hospital sharing knowledge, providing mentorship and guidance, and using each encounter as a learning opportunity.
He has held progressive leadership positions, and holds a Master of Health Informatics, a Master Certificate in Healthcare Leadership, and is a Certified Health Executive (CHE). He is a sought-after expert in health system integration, clinical operations, quality improvement, technology, and data and analytics.
The Robert Zed Young Health Leader Award is presented to a Canadian healthcare leader, age 40 or younger, who has demonstrated leadership in the effectiveness and sustainability of Canada’s health system.
